The holidays are upon us and 2016 is staring us in the face. But what happened to the white Christmas? Where is our snow this year? Everyone remembers last year … the storm that brought a very white Thanksgiving and those cold temps that kept us going until well after the Easter holiday (we had a storm that day too). Even the storm that hit our region in 2010 is still in our memory. But the milder winters? Does anyone recall the dates or where you were when there was no snow? We’ve had those years too.
But looking ahead and keeping the faith … Farmer’s Almanac is still predicting that the snowiest periods will be early to mid-January, late February and early to mid-March. Their even saying that April and May will be cooler and drier than normal.
We have not lost hope! Snowmaking has officially begun! We’ve taken advantage of the short cold spell and made as much snow as we could in our Snowtubing Park and Learning Center so we could start with a soft opening on December 26th. First time skiers can get an inaugural lift to the top of the Learning Center on our new carpet conveyor, and everyone can enjoy snowtubing during the holiday season!
We know that everyone is itching to get back on the snow! We are too! And we’re ready for those colder temperatures and big snowfalls! Ah, the all important first chair of the season! Can’t wait!
In the meantime, swing by, grab a cup of holiday cheer and try one of our homemade soups. Our food service and lounge will be open on December 26th too!
Look forward to seeing you all out on the slopes!
