YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING AT the snow forecast, thinking you’ll come up and stay. Thinking you should’ve pulled the trigger and taken Pres. Week a week early. Well Platty is this mythic place where powder lasts and lift lines don’t exist. The hill is old school, vintage, the heart of skiing…. Which also translates into no mountain village, no identikit experience, no on-hill lodging. Instead to ski-and-stay you’re staying in the heart of the community (to read more click the button below)

be it a B&B or the funky Roxbury “motel” (in quotes because with stratospherically high thread-count linens, it's pretty accomodating). There are also ski-and-stay deals to be found here on the site . So as the 10-day forecast calls for snow this week and next weekend, it’s time to plan… Rent a restored farmhouse with your friends. Visit the elegant Breezy Hill Inn on the side of a mountain. Shack up in a classic skiers A-frame, even apartments designed for skiers (and owned by two former PSIA level-3 instructors who can probably tell you where to find the best powder on the hill). 04a2037b-5c7d-42bc-bf78-5159bddc1768.1.10

Praise for the Scudder Hill House shows exactly what keeping it real means, With guests saying: “Scudder Hill House, the Public, Platttekill and Roxbury, they’re all undiscovered jewels as far as we’re concerned.” Another said it was “like staying in the little log cabin I always wished I had. From the cozy fireplaces, to the delicious, home-cooked meals… I felt like I was visiting family.” Another came for Christmas with 18 of their friends.

Meanwhile Breezy Hill’s gracious style landed it in NY1 and Kaatskill Life. Plus there’s a well-stocked library to retreat to (one of the owners a former publisher) not to mention gym and pool table. And the The Roxbury "boutique motel resort" has been everywhere from Animal Planet to HGTV and in just about every travel mag around. Plus it has a spa with those post-ski essentials: hot tub and sauna. Not to mention themed rooms that can range from one Holly Golightly to which might have taken a shine to something more Liberace-esque.
