Labor Day Music on the Mountain

musiconthemountain They say music lifts your heart, warms the soul and makes you feel good, so for that very reason, Plattekill Mountain in Roxbury, NY has decided to feature a ‘MUSIC ON THE MOUNTAIN” free concert on Saturday, August 30th. This family-friendly event will take place from 3-7pm with plenty of fun for young and old to enjoy the last few official days of summer, plus beautiful Catskill mountain views and just kick back and relax. For a great beginning of the Labor Day weekend, all you need to do is bring is a blanket or lawn chair and yourselves. Food and beverage will be available for purchase on the resort’s wrap around deck. The resort’s chairlift will also operate for mountaintop views for $7 per person from 3-5pm during the event. Music will feature the local band, ‘Esquela’, offering a unique Americana/Bluesy rootsy/rock and roll & a hint of country music with some serious high quality guitar playing and powerful vocals. Esquela, which is Spanish for ‘school’, is originally from Bovina, New York and has amazed people of all walks of life in their heavily traveled hotspots of entertaining. More on their music can be found on their website at Plattekill’s unique layout situated in a natural ski bowl makes for a perfect amphitheater for sound and a great place for an intimate concert setting. Plattekill plans to expand on this idea next year and feature a free-to-the-public mini-concert ‘Music on the Mountain’ series next summer over a span of multiple dates.

Days are getting longer and warmer and that means more hours in a day for summer activities and we’ve got that covered here at Plattekill.   Much more than photocroppedjust winter activities, we’ve got fun and adventure coming to you year round.  We have evolved into a four season destination and this year we plan to continue to expand offerings with a “Music on the Mountain” free family concert Saturday August 30 (stay tuned for more) and an all-day music festival, Roxfest, Saturday Sept 27.

Mountain biking is what we’re best known for in the “off” season, and we’ve got over 60 miles of bike trails and bike rentals.  Another option, hop on a scenic Chairlift ride open every weekend, take in the fresh, mountain air and spectacular mountaintop views from 3500 feet up.  Enjoy a picnic, hike or hit some GPS hot spots located on our mountain for some outdoor treasure hunting a.k.a Geocaching

For the less thrill-seeking bikers, a few miles down the road, discover a well preserved, multi-use, converted Scenic Rail-Trail. Go as far or as little as you want out of the 26 miles offered to you! We have bike renatls for those trails too and will even deliver them to the trailhead.  Getting tired & need a lift back on the trail?…no worries, we offer a shuttle service to pick you and the bikes up too.

Water activities???  Not here on the mountain but we are affiliated with nearby Lake Wawaka in scenic Halcottsville just 10 minutes away and we’ve got discount coupon deals for the canoes, kayaks and paddle board rentals.  Get a group of friends of 10 or more and we can discount you even more!

Exclusive-Use Day Camps/Corporate Outings are also very popular here over the summertime where we offer our mountain and lodge up exclusively for larger groups complete with bike rentals, tour guides, biking and hiking plus volleyball, ping pong, BBQing on the deck and more!

C’mon out and enjoy the sunshine ~~ Looking forward to seeing you all on the mountain!

As we gear up for the official arrival of the summer season with Memorial Day Weekend coming up, you most likely don't think about hitting a ski resort for some summer fun in mtb chairlift bikers photothe sun.  Ski Mountains after all are for winter, skiing, boarding, snowtubing and the like.  However, quite the contrary is what you'll find at most resorts, and Plattekill (or Platty as most come to call us) is no exception.  In fact we'll be open for 5 DAYS May 22-26 for biking (on the mtn trails and the Rail Trail), scenic chairlift skyrides, hiking, geocaching, bbqing, promen2013camping and kicking back!   Plus, we're super stoked to be hosting a stop on the 2014 ProGRT mountain bike race circuit as the event returns for the 5th consecutive year to Plattekill. So there will be downhill bike racing action here too with Pros and Amateurs from all over the country and beyond!

We look forward to welcoming racers, non racers and race fans for a fun, long weekend as we officially welcome in the summer season!

Changing Gears

Old Man Winter has put away the skis and snowboards here on Plattekill Mountain and with just a little more cooperation from Mother Nature, Spring will be here in full ProGRT-052smswing!  The year-round fun continues out on the Platty trails as its time to get back on the slopes and hurtle the bikes on the biking trails.  Pedaling since 1995, Plattekill was one of the first ever lift-served mountain bike parks to open in the Northeast.

The transformation from winter to summer is currently in full gear (pun intended) transitioning over our ski rental shop to our bike rental & repair center, moving food operations out onto the deck bbq and grooming our specially cut mountain bike trails.

We are keeping the tradition alive beckoning any & all mountain bikers to help pre-season clean and clear the bike trails on Saturday, 4/26.  Helpers get a free lunch and get to ride for free on Sunday as well as receive a complimentary ticket to come on back and ride again.

Plattekill is open with lift access every weekend officially starting Saturday May 3, with a full-service base lodge offering with retail shop, full line of bike rentals, repair shop, cafeteria and outdoor grill as well as special events and…coming soon, music on the mountain.  Stay tuned for more on that!

See you on the trails…
