I was the number oneranked USAC Pro DH Racer for 7 weeks. At the USAC National Championships I wasforced to race Cat 1 Junior Expert so I missed out on the big pro points thatwere available. Other racers used those points to bump me back to 3rdplace in the standings, still not so bad for a Junior and I do have a lot oftime to get back on top. I was selected by USAC to represent the My racing travel has taken me to In the September issue of Decline Magazine, I was pictured at June 13, Finished 3rd presently tied for first place inthe series. Another great course and perfect weather was on tap. Times werevery tight; I was less than one second off the top spot. June 20-21, MountSnow Series #2: Finished 8th. Another wet muddy weekend at June 27-28 GES #4 Finished 6th , pouringrain turned a great course into a mud pit, it was a crash filled race for alllevels. Luckily I only went off course once right into a tree, most weren?t solucky. July 4-5 Finished 110th Perfect weather for the first 50 then a hugedown pour for the last 70. The course and conditions deteriorated as time wenton. I started in the last 20. The non-stop rain turned this world cup courseinto a battle of survival. I crashed very hard on the steep part of the course.I did finish after collecting myself and letting a few racers go by. July 18-19 Finished 12th, I was very disappointed by thisfinish, it was a race I should have won. The winner of this race received afunded spot on the USAC World Championship team. Without USAC funding it willbe very hard for me to afford to go to the Worlds. I just never seemed toadjust to the altitude or the style the course. The course was dry and sandywith bmx style jumps. The top ten were all local racers who were adapted to thealtitude and style of the course. July 25-26 UCI WorldCup XCO/DHI/4X Finished 110th. One small course correction and havingto pass another racer cost me from qualifying for my first WC final. I didmanage to beat 70 other of the world?s best downhillers though. August 1-2 UCI WorldCup XCO/DHI/4X Finished 73rd after qualifying 77th. Made my first WC final and got some live timeon Freecaster.com. I did a helmet cam run of the course for Sicklines.Com and Ialso got some video time on DirtTV, Sicklines.com and Freecaster.com Geoff Ulmer Helmet Mid way down the page http://www.sicklines.com/2009/08/03/bromont-world-cup-2009/#more-5731 |
